Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence,Italy on March 9,1451.  He died in Seville, Spain on February 22, 1512.  He was the third son of Ser Nastagio, an official in Florence.  His mother was Lisabette, the daughter of Ser Giovanni.

     Amerigo Vespucci was tutored by his uncle. His name was Giorgio Antonio and was a teacher in Florence for the noble people.  Vespucci studied literature and the Latin language.  On October 19, 1476, he wrote a letter to his father in Latin about his studies.
