Amerigo means land and Vespucci means WASP!!!!
Amerigo Vespucci was a very serious man, however America was named after Amerigo Vespucci.
He is the one man whom North and South America are named after. When Vespucci and his crew returned from
their trip to a place now called America, in 1504, they told mapmakers all over Spain their story about the "New World." However,
not many believed them. A German mapmaker named Martain Waldseemuller was one of the first to believe that Amerigo was
the first European to find the "New World," and suggested they call this place America.
